After completing this course, participants will be able to describe the basics of mental health disorders and how these might impact a parent's ability to support safe and appropriate parenting practices. They will also be able to identify the most common mental health diagnosis for children or youth and how to support a child or youth who has a mental health diagnosis. Lastly, they will be able to recognize that a family member having a mental health disorder does not constitute a safety threat.
