This course will enhance your ability to identify, respond to, and serve children and youth experiencing sexual exploitation and/or trafficking by knowing the laws, policies, and basic concepts. You will apply youth-centered, trauma-informed practice that adapts to new knowledge. This will improve safety, dignity, and outcomes of children and youth impacted by trafficking and exploitation.

Completion of this course will confer 1 credit hour.

1) Define sexual exploitation and labor trafficking of children and youth, including key legal culture, and practice definitions.
2) Explain the relevant child welfare policies, federal, and state laws.
3) Describe the indicators, risk factors, systemic vulnerabilities and perpetrator characteristics.
4) Differentiate between types of exploitation and explain how each type operates in recruitment and control of children and youth.
