By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • KO1: Participants will recognize DCYF expectations for handling and communicating confidential information.

  • K02: Analyze common ethical dilemmas in child welfare and explore strategies to address dilemmas.

  • SO1: Participants can identify information that may not be shared with all parties involved in a case and demonstrate appropriate and professional ways to communicate information.

  • S02: Define and explain the core values of child welfare, including the importance of child safety, family preservation, and cultural competence.

  • VO1: Participants will be able to describe the importance of establishing and maintaining ethical standards in child welfare.

This course explores the ethical responsibilities and challenges faced by child welfare professionals. You will examine the core values and ethical standards that guide decision-making, including confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Completion of this course will confer 3 credit hours.
