CaRES Special Events: Caregivers - Supporting Students in Foster Care

Children and young people experiencing foster care often have extra education challenges. It can be difficult to know how to support them and who is responsible for school-based services like transportation and accommodations. Join Molly, a licensed teacher with more than 15 years of experience, educational support expert, and CaRES Connector. Molly will be sharing an overview of the laws and protections that support students in foster care, along with practical guidance for accessing school-based services. You will learn trauma-informed strategies for promoting educational stability, navigating available resources, and advocating for students’ academic success and well-being. There will also be time for questions and response and connection with other caregivers.
